Morrissey – Ringleader Of The Tormentors
“Ringleader Of The Tormentors” is another interestingly named album from Morrissey, the album would need to be special to live up to this, and it doesn’t disappoint. Opener “I Will See You In Far Off Places” will be tough to beat as opening songs go this year, it has an experimental middle-eastern, rock to it, which will no doubt prove a live favourite on the forthcoming tour. After the rock, we move to the slower paced “Dear God, Please Help Me”. This is a track where Morrissey declares he has “explosive kegs between my legs” and “now i am spreading you legs, with mine, in between” lyrically shocking, the music is beautiful with Ennio Morricone applying his string work to it. Throughout the album, there are many references to Rome, a place where he has clearly fallen in love with. There can only be speculation as to what his new love is who is described in “Dear God, Please Help Me” but whoever it is, has certainly changed Morrissey and thank goodness for whoever it is.
