The Raveonettes – Chain Gang Of Love

The Raveonettes’ first proper album after their mini debut album “Whip It On is recorded entirely in B major. You can hear a difference on this one. It is more upbeat across the board.
“The Great Love Sound” is the album’s lead single. Its huge and catchy chorus makes this one instantly likeable. “Noisy Summer” features the brilliant handclaps which you can’t help but love. A wall of noise over the bubble gum pop vocals makes this deliciously bizarre. “Lets Rave On” is almost like a dance tune; with its bouncy bass and tambourine, you will be off your seat. “Heartbrake Stroll,” the second single, is a good time. Great chorus and fuzzy guitars make it a classic. “Love Can Destroy Everything” is a Raveonettes-type ballad. It has a very somber and dark feel to it but with
some off their trademark bells and whistles. “New York Was Great” is another song about New York . It is the album’s finale track. The track features Sune on the lead with Sharin backing him up witch gives their songs a very sexy feel to them.
The album is a step in the right direction for the band. You get some interesting things on here; some great pop tunes and some very noisy and distorted ones. Regardless, the whole thing is about love so have fun with it, kids.
