Sonic Youth – Sonic Nurse
This is a hard album to review really. This will be Sonic Youth’s 19th LP and by now you should have already cemented your thoughts on them. Throughout their incredible career they have done loads of experimenting with their various side projects and there own avant garde EPs on their own label. Sonic Youth have become an institution of solid music, with new stuff always around the corner. Bands like Guided By Voices and Sonic Youth are really inspirational due to the amount of material they make and how much of it is fucking brilliant. “Sonic Nurse” follows in the same vein as ” Murry Street ” it is more of a stable return to form. There are no 15 minutes of feedback or anything like that. It’s a return to much more stable and structured songs. If you’re a fan, this is an essential pick up. If you have never heard of Sonic Youth before get towards their earlier work and then make your way down to the more recent stuff. After 19 albums they still have it and they still have some brilliant material left in them.
