Jeniferever – Choose a Bright Morning
Recent addition to the Drowned In Sound label, this four piece from Uppsala. Sweden has created a remarkable album full of downright gorgeous tunes. Yes, they are named after a Smashing Pumpkins song. Opener “From Across The Sea” just one of those songs you almost wish never end. It is just so sweeping, majestic and very encompassing. “Swimming Eyes” features some very some rather whispery vocals from Kristofer J?n and again another song that musically just swallows you up. “Winter Nights” features some incredible use of horns and just an 11 minute monster of a track. “Marks” is one of my favorites here, it’s a interesting listen and there use of banjos here really gives an interesting dimension to the track.
“Choose A Bright Morning” is not a groundbreaking album, but on many moments it shines. The songs are captivating listens and not many bands use banjos. For fans of Sigur Ros, Broken Social Scene this is an album you will want to pick up.
