Interpol – The Heinrich Maneuver

Yes!I loved this one. Paul Banks’s voice and a tight, positive production on this snappy song by a highly influential band. This track is on repeat for me, if just for the vocal and there’s alot of danceability here. Buy it now,as they say on Ebay.

The Horrors – She Is The New Thing

horrors The Horrors She Is The New Thing

My first listen to this band and the NME’s review of this single in this week’s edition did nothing to encourage me. However I will say that this group do have a different sound, definitely Goth-rock, with spooky keyboards, chilling guitar and thoroughly evil vocals from lead singer Faris Rotter.3.21 minutes of it to be precise. Contrived is a word that sprang to mind when listening to this one, but it will definitely appeal to the Goth community and has its place in the new music scene of the early 21st century.

Selfish Cunt – Avocado

cunt 150x150 Selfish Cunt AvocadoI must admit I wasn’t expecting to like this band at all, but having heard this track it was impossible not to feel a reaction. Hearing it for the first time was a bit like scratching a wound which is trying to heal. Driving guitars and an abrasive dangerous beat dominates here. Some might say this song is just noise mongering, but I liked it.

Heavily punk-influenced, tight and dark, this London four piece band is undoubtedly in-your-face with their delivery. This ditty is about the effect of pollution on the environment-quite witty lyrics here

“That ain’t what it seems…this is NOT an avocado”. There’s a message in this song and its not as shallow as it appears on first listen.

Don’t be put off by the offensive name. This band have definitely passed the
acid test.

The Cribs – Moving Pictures

cribsnew 150x150 The Cribs Moving Pictures A conventional rock song from The Cribs,a band I would describe as “the introspective Arctic Monkeys”.It took me a while to get into this band. I can now see their appeal. This is quite an emotional song. I liked it and for diehard Cribs fans,of which there are many,it will press all the right buttons. Nice singalong chorus as well.
