cure4131 150x150 The Cure 4:13 DreamThe Cure have been around for a remarkable 32 years, and while they have a dozen records behind them, 4:13 Dream is proving to be one of the most memorable of those albums. While it certainly does not possess the awe-inspiring qualities of Bloodflowers or Disintegration, it is an impressive return to the band’s signature sound.

In fact, this signature sound is consistently heard throughout the album to such an extent that one cannot help but be reminded of 1980’s “Boys Don’t Cry” when listening to songs such as “Only One” and “Sirensong.” This sense of nostalgia is what will help the band win back fans they have lost in the past ten years.

Whether Robert Smith is charming us with his breathy, melodic voice in “Underneath the Stars” or making us smile with “Perfect Boy”, he has definitely proven that the band is back and better than ever.

Robert Smith has reminded us of what made the world fall in love with The Cure in 1976 – an incredible feat after what seemed like a curse of mediocre albums following 1996’s Wild Mood Swings. Nonetheless, it seems like the band has struck gold with lucky album number thirteen.
