Smashing Pumpkins – G.L.O.W

sp glow 150x150 Smashing Pumpkins G.L.O.W“Glow” is a special one-off single from the Pumpkins. It is getting a digital release in the US and a physical one elsewhere. But, you can also download this one on the new Guitar Hero game as well if you for some reason feel the need. Musically, the track is actually not that bad. The guitars are distinct pumpkins work and the drumming is solid as always. But, the lyrics just feel so amateurish. “come on come on can you feel it” is this what it has come to Billy. There is nothing wrong with releasing an abstract instrumental album at this point. The track just feels so standard and it does nothing to switch up the lyrics. This might have been a big song in 1994 but now it just feels so tired. The b-side of this single “Superchrist” is the more intriguing listen. The seven minute plus psychedelic jam. Billy sounds like he is free on the track and it still has a hard edge and bite to it which, is always his strong area in my eyes. This would have been insane to play in Guitar Hero as well.
