Soul Distraction – Bare Bones

souldistraction bare bones 150x150 Soul Distraction Bare BonesSoul Distraction is quickly becoming one of the best hard rock acts west of the Rockies. And it is not hard to understand why. With heavy and uplifting chords filled with massive intensity, they are a group that is easy to enjoy. They are the sort of band that unintentionally demands a cult following. Fronted by the illustriously beautiful and immensely talented vocalist, Elsa Faith, they cover every detail it takes to make extremely original music in a scene that is begging for reconstruction. There hasn’t been a frontwoman who rocked this hard since Shirley Manson in her prime. This IS the hard rock group to watch!

Elsa and co-vocalist/acoustic strumming mastermind Marty Mitchell bring out, as the album title suggests, the Bare Bones of Soul Distraction. This album reaches to the heart of the band, stripped of regular loud intensity to show a softer tone. This is the x-rayed version of the band. Elsa sings, Marty strums. The duo showcases their incredible song writing abilities and soulful connection towards another, no matter what form they choose to convey. Tracks like “Down” and “Tattoo” are enough to prove you are listening to artistic mercenaries and bellwether embodiments.

Although the group is not in full act (Except for the acutely appropriate bonus track “Ticket To America (band version)” available on iTunes), the entire aura of Soul Distraction is intact. This album is only half of the talent they have (literally), and it is still brilliant. Elsa and the boys are soon to release their follow up full length album for their first album, The Truth Pill. And with the band’s previews, including a free download of their first single, “Raining In Paradise” at Reverbnation, they have done something thought to be impossible – they got even better! Word of advice to fans of all rock n roll – remember the name Soul Distraction!
