The Datsuns – Headstunts
The first track, Human Error bursts out of nowhere and is immediately ‘in your face’ this is a fast and loud rock track, the music is great but little else, it borders on metal but isn’t quite there. The second track, Hey! Paranoid People boasts much better lyrics and vocals but this time the overall sound isn’t as good. Track three, Your Bones reminds me a little of a Raconteurs track though it’s not of the same calibre; however this is a vast improvement on the previous two. Track six, Eye Of The Needle really won me over this is moody, and truly captured my attention, rich with a wide ranging patchwork of sound and the vocals are simply amazing, the last minute or so will completely take your breath away, this is a stunning track. This is a real love /hate album for me, some tracks leave you despairing and yet others are mindblowingly good, track six in particular being the prime example, the remainder of the album may grow on me in time and with this band I’m prepared to give it time.
