Black Gold – Rush

blackgold 150x150 Black Gold RushThe first track, Detroit, was great, it chopped and changed throughout but this wasn’t haphazard it was smooth and intriguing almost like meandering through a maze of sound, full of twists and turns, I loved it. Track two, Plans And Reveries while much more sedate boasted the same quality, the sounds in here are rich and deep with a whole multitude of sounds, the vocals are good, the instruments range from furious drums and guitar to piano and everything between, as this track drew to a close I particularly loved the shift in vocals too and the outtro is pure genius. Track five, Silver, is stunning and really highlights the vocals, beginning with a muted sound interspersed with strange percussion, this is certainly different but it works. Track six, Shine, this sounds quite mainstream initially but it builds, again the vocals are outstanding the sound rises and falls beautifully. I’ve never heard of this band before but now I’ve found them I’m hooked this is a great album, these guys are truly gifted.
