The Juan Maclean – The Future Will Come

thefuture 150x150 The Juan Maclean The Future Will ComeIt has been a long time since Juan has released his debut album on DFA; Less Than Human was a release that does not get the love it deserves.
A few songs from The Future Will Come have already been with us due to the early singles “Happy House” and “The Simple Life.” “Happy House” is a game changer; this is a track will become an anthem.

The Future Will Come starts off with fire in the first five tracks. From the intense opening bars of “The Simple Life” to the confusing closing seconds of “Tonight” the album is a rip soulful adventure. The second half of the record has a little less cohesiveness but still is still full of bangers. “Accusations” is a funky/fuzzy and trippy track that gets me charged up on every listen. The star of the album is aforementioned “Happy House”; the 12 minute composition of organs and retro keyboard riffs colliding together make this song an undeniable classic that will go up there with the classic LCD Soundsystem tracks. “Human Disaster” is the album’s emotional track; while the song does provide a nice change of pace it would have been better demoted to a b-side.

Juan Maclean has crafted a truly marvelous record. “Accusations,” “The Future Will Come” and “The Simple Life” are just a few of the tracks on this album that will become staples in our collections/mixes and our nights out.
