Camera Obscura – My Maudlin Career

cameraobscuracover 150x150 Camera Obscura My Maudlin Career Camera Obscura is a six-piece indie-pop band from Glasgow, Scotland. Their fourth release, “My Maudlin Career” is made up of eleven bubbly, simple love songs that could only be described as youthful and innocent. However, while the album displays a charming depiction of naïve love, it strikes listeners with an overwhelming genuine feel. In other words, the songs on “My Maudlin Career” are hardly maudlin.

The first single, “French Navy” is so uplifting and pleasantly youthful that one would have to believe the lyrics came straight from lead singer Tracyanne Campbell’s teenage diary. Perfect for spring, “My Maudlin Career” beautifully depicts the idea of teenage love blooming as the cold weather comes to an end. Capable of transforming even the most pessimistic of cynics, Camera Obscura’s fourth installment aims to make us believe in love again.
