Chairlift – Does You Inspire You

This debut album from Brooklyn three piece electronic/indie pop band Chairlift is a remixed, remastered reissue of the original CD,which came out in September 2008.

This band formed at the University of Colorado in 2005.Their music is ambient and mostly background type music. They sound a little like Eighties band Berlin. The album is quite a pleasant listen-it is dreamy and soporific in tone.

Chairlift have just embarked on a tour, taking in the US, UK and Europe, with one London date at Kings College on 14th May. The tour ends in August.

They’re a bit pretentious, but worth a listen. Soothing synths, drums and Caroline Polacheck’s voice lull you into a spacey, otherworldly state.

Territory is I think my preferred track. Bruises is very poignant.

I do think however that this album works best as a soundtrack,which is what this band are about.The production is slick and crystal clear and in places quite beautiful. Chairlift will
draw people to them and be noticed.

Worth hearing.
