Rancid – The Last One To Die

lastonetodie 150x150 Rancid The Last One To Die“We got it right you got it wrong, we’re still around.”

There are several ways to interpret this vitriolic statement spewed out from a funk/punk base by the evergreen Tim Armstrong through ‘Last One To Die’, a critic bating titbit from the lead single ahead of Rancid’s first studio album in six years, ‘Let The Dominoes Fall’. Doubters will question the importance attached to the above boast, arguing that Rancid’s impact on the punk/alternative scene has not been significant enough for the impartial observers to notice whether they’re still here or not.

However, this rugged, rhythmically defiant stomp will have their growing fan-base stroking their pictures of Tim Armstrong saying; “welcome back, Armie my superhero”. There is enough bolshie, well timed gnarl as well as oodles of self confidence/arrogance. Sham 69 veined backing gives a reminder of the united front that is Rancid and, it’s a reminder that you either love ‘em or couldn’t give a Brodie Dalle about ‘em. Whatever side of the fence you find yourself on, this single will surely re-enforce your already held opinion and your conviction in it.
