Enter Shikari – Juggernauts

juggernauts 150x150 Enter Shikari JuggernautsLast year, Enter Shikari released a brilliant little tune “We Can Breathe In Space….” and that got me to look at the band a little differently. Their debut album “Take To The Skies” had some moments similar to “We Can Breathe…” but I was hoping for something more concrete. “Juggernauts” gets off to a great start; the first 45 seconds or so are just what I wanted to hear. But the spoken word breakdown feels like it comes in way too soon. You need to hook me in a little longer before you break it down on me for what seems like forever. Then during the second minute of the song you get the ‘hardcore rally cry” which, officially loses me for the song. That type of stuff is awesome live but it feels silly to me on a record. For, a person who doesn’t listen to a lot of hardcore music Enter Shikari gives me enough that I don’t want to run for the hills when the tracks come on. I am generally interested in them. While the track failed to excite me, it did show me enough that I will probably track down the record this summer just to see.

When I was 13 or 14, I used to really like making what would should probably be called sound collages…
