Review: Various Artists – Inglourious Basterds Soundtrack
When a new Quentin Tarantino film comes out, I may love or hate it (this one I love), but I always buy the soundtrack. The man has a great comprehension of pop culture. The main difference from the Basterds soundtrack from his others is that this one has no dialogue tracks from the movie (a trend I believe he started with Resovior Dogs), possibly because most of the film is spoken in French and German.
One other unique aspect of a Tarantino film is that its scores are comprised from scores from other movies. Five tracks are on this album are taken from Ennio Morricone, who I believe is wrote the most brilliant music out of everything ever written. The soundtrack is mostly instrumental, but has a few pop songs thrown in from David Bowie to Billy Preston, and even an old timey German song. It works.
