Review: Wolfmother – Cosmic Egg
Wolfmother are back coming off of a major hit record with their new album Cosmic Egg. The album opens up with ‘California Queen’ a Deep Purple inspired rocker that’s sure to be a hit for the band. The bands success has come from their 70′s rock soundand they deliever once again. Cosmic Egg has much more polishedThe album sometimes leaves one wanting lyrically but then opens up and shows the bands growth musically on the secound half of the album. For Wolfmother they may find that they don’t have quite the hit mainstream success because Cosimic Egg is better taken in its entirety rather then as individual pop tunes. If your in the mood to hear a new Black Sabbath record circa 1970′s its not going to happen, but instead you can get your fix with this new Wolfmother album. Its fun to hear how bands like The White Stripes and Wolfmother can take an old anolog 70′s rock sounds and make them sound fresh, new and exciting. Hard rock fans are sure to embrace Wolfmother’s ‘Cosmic Egg’ and they will surely want to play these tracks on Rock Band/Guitar Hero.
