Review: Norah Jones – The Fall

Nj the fall lg 150x150 Review: Norah Jones The FallThe Fall is Norah Jones’s fourth album and her first for two years(since Not Too Late in 2007). It was released on 16th November and consists of 13 tracks.A very high profile album and Norah plays guitar on the songs,as opposed to the piano on the previous two albums. She also has a new MOR style and new backing musicians. Its a subtle change for her, but most of the tracks here still deliver the same sophisticated Norah, whose pure sensuous voice winds itself around the session musicians(some of whom have collaborated with REM, Johnny Cash and Tom Waits).

There’s just a tinge of funk on tracks like Chasing Pirates(the single)and Norah is in great voice on all the songs on this album.

I couldn’t decide whether I liked the “old” Norah or the “new” Norah best. This album is more MOR than the Norah Jones of Not Too Late fame, but it is still a very very enjoyable listen.

Jones adopts a smoky voice and soulful veneer for the opening track and first single, "Chasing Pirates," while displaying a slinky kind of ambience on "Light As a Feather (co-written with Ryan Adams). look at Nice collection of Norah Jones http://ligamusic.com/Artist/1236/Norah_Jones/down
