Review: I Am Kloot – Sky At Night
This three-piece Mancunian band are:John Bramwell(guitar/vocals),Peter Jobson(bass) and Andy Hargreaves(drums). They formed in 1999.
This is their fifth album(released 5th July 2010) and there are ten tracks on it. I Am Kloot are a small band with a big sound.Their songs are dark, witty and very listenable.
“Radiation” has echoes of John Lennon in his Plastic Ono Band days.”Its Just The Night”is passionate and heartfelt, with a lovely guitar break….quite heartbreaking to listen to.
Well-produced with zeal by Elbow’s frontman Guy Garvey and Craig Potter, this album shows great promise.I loved “Northern Skies”,the digital single from it.
“The Moon Is A Blind Eye”is very beautiful and haunting, with some fine piano and harmonies.Very soothing. I found “To The Brink”the most disturbing song on the album and the least listenable of all ten tracks. There’s usually one like that!!In fact it almost spoiled the whole album for me.
However “Sky At Night” is a fine piece of work and should be given a good listening chance.
