News: THE BOXER FROM KELE OF BLOC PARTY
Bloc Party singer/guitarist Kele Okereke will release his first solo album, entitled The Boxer, on June 22nd, 2010 on Glassnote Records. Produced by XXXchange (Spank Rock, The Kills), with additional mixing by Philippe Zdar (responsible for Phoenix’s Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix), The Boxer sees the talented frontman pushing the boundaries of his own melodic sensibilities, embracing pop, rock and electronic music to boldly step out as a solo artist in his own right. First single “Tenderoni” will be unveiled in the coming weeks.

Bloc Party – One More Chance
I would call myself a Bloc Party fan but I think sometimes a band can be too prolific. We already had the remix album this year and a few things lifted from that and now only a few months after that we got a new track. Before we start talking about the actual new song, can you believe it has been over 5 years since Bloc Party wowed all of us with that EP?
“One More Chance” is a produced by Jacknife Lee and represents a sizable departure from what you can come to expect from Bloc Party. The track is largely based around a few piano chords. It is one of the bands stronger singles. The production on Jacknife is rather slick. Kele’s vocal is out front and maybe a tad to loud but that is just a little nitpick. The band do always keep things fresh and try to give a variety in each single release. They could have just packed it in and released a few “Banquets.” But, I think Bloc Party have achieved a level where they need to make us miss them again.

Bloc Party – Ares (Villains Remix)
Over Easter weekend, Bloc Party invited fans at their two London Olympia gigs to film the show on their mobile phones. The footage was to be used in a video for ‘Ares (Villains Remix)’.
The fans (and occasionally the band) filmed and filmed some more, and the final result is here:
