A sonic edge and a Pixies backdrop alongside a little Supergrass slant helps this Leeds based fuzz rock trio, build up to their potentially oblique rocking debut album, ‘Growing Pains’. This lead single ‘Mona Lisa’, covers the usual trials and tribulations that are grappled with when you come-of-age. However, there is a grinding, rhythmic groove that keeps the energy building and swerves the track away from a lame and repetitive pit.
There are times when you feel that more grit and rousing rhythm is called for, but doesn’t quite come along. However, they have the chance to do this in their debut and, if they achieve it? Then a career on the main stage at the likes of Leeds and Reading awaits.
Dinosaur Pile-Up release ‘THE MOST POWERFUL EP IN THE UNIVERSE!’ on August 17th via Big Brain/Friends Vs Records. The band have a few dates and festival slots this summer in support of the new release.
