Donora – Donora

donora 150x150 Donora DonoraDonora is the newest band coming out of the Pittsburgh scene. Donora makes unabashed indie pop rock but it does not come across as anything other than genuine. The band brings a little quirky and charm to the songs that make them all so irresistible. From the opening chords of the track “Shout” you will be looked in with the catchy hooks and melodies. As the opening song of the album gets going you feel like you have stumbled upon a great little secret. How is this song not all over the radio and TV? The record makes a nice shift into “Shhh.” Casey changes her vocal delivery slight on this with a mix of a whisper tone and normal pace unlike on the heavier “Shout.” Then the third track gives the album that feel good track of the album in “Weekend Tongue.”

Later in the album the band show even more of their capabilities with “Photograph.” They show here that they can even slow it down for a sweet emotional track. “I Think I Like You” is another of the bands track that has been gaining a little buzz that features that piano bit that just makes the song.

The album from the first note to the last was a engaging and entertaining listen. The band had me on my toes from track to track switching up the formula and adding something to different to each track. It makes you want to go back and give it repeat spins because you know missed a little something here or there.
