Heartless Bastards – The Mountain

heartless 150x150 Heartless Bastards The MountainSomething near alternative and Indie Rock with Obvious Country Roots comes to mind when one listens to the Mountain, by Heartless Bastards. A Band, whom are more full of more heart than their band name would have you believe. My immediate thought when hitting the play button for their first track “The Mountain” was “What the hell is this?” It took a while to warm up to the calm, melodic bass, distant guitar and more or less, hypnotic vocals.

Contrary to the name, the band plays a lot of music, revolving around situations where in the metaphorical “heart,” would be used to solve or understand any given situation being sung about. Making these sleepy hits easy to relate to, and also calming, allowing one to sit and think about life, and all it’s odd ends, ins and outs.

Some notable tracks would be the first, “The Mountain”, followed by “Hold Your Head”, which could quite possibly be the new anthem for anyone trying to get themselves out of a slump, “Out at Sea,” and “Had to Go” for it’s awesome Violin Harmony at the end.

I would recommend this album for anyone that really likes to mellow out and think about Good Vibes, relaxing or anyone looking for a little pick me up without the hard rock drums and guitar solos.

And if you are in the mood for some pretty Jam-tastic Rock and Roll head banging delight, don’t let the name confuse you, The Heartless Bastards may have more heart than you can handle.
