Review: James Apollo – Two By Two (Marterry Music)
America’s thoughtful songwriter, James Apollo builds up to his forthcoming 2nd album, with a meandering, soothingly provocative backing vocal inclusive ballad, ‘Two By Two’. It offers time for contemplation and the chance to ponder upon life and love. The achingly soulful vocals help the emotion seep out of the song.
Apollo builds up trust with his calming gait, as he delivers a tale of mysterious tale of longing and heartache through the pondering, poetics lyrics. It’s helped along by a deft crawling, keys touch that gives a rustic edge to the song. Depth, rhythm and heart combine for a promising start to the task of building upon a steady, but unspectacular debut album.
