Massive Attack – Collected
Massive Attack has collected their singles spanning their entire fifteen year career. Massive Attack has always been a special band for me. I remember putting on my copy of “Blue Lines” and just simply blown away and forever changed. They have always had a unique sound and have made some of the finest music of our time. If you don’t agree this collection is perfect for you.
“Unfinished Sympathy,” “Safe From Harm” and “Five Man Army” are the tracks picked from “Blue Lines.” “Five My Army” still sounds fresh with its twisted reggae beat, even after fifteen years from its release. “Karmacoma,” “Protection” and “Sly” are lifted off the “Protection. One of the great things about these collections is that it makes you go back and dig out some of the old stuff. “Sly” is a breathtaking track. “Karmacoma” will always be one of my favorites, but what happened to Tricky? “Angel,” “Teardrop,” “Inertia Creeps” and “Risingson” are lifted from their 1998 masterpiece “Mezzanine.” A album which everyone should own. Also, there is a few tracks “Butterfly Caught,” “Future Proof” and “What Your Soul Sings” off the 100th Window LP. The album was much maligned but the tracks do stand up against the rest of the catalogue.
“Collected” is really a solid collection, the tracks speak for themselves. If you have no experience with this band, this is a must have. The musically here is simply amazing and a must have.
