Peter Doherty – Broken Love Song
Official HD Promo Video for Peter Doherty’s fantastic new single ‘Broken Love Song’.
Pete Doherty – Grace/Wastelands
The famous/infamous Pete Doherty returns with his debut solo album, filled with regret, musing and jazz piano.
Twelve tracks on this album, which was released on 16th March this year, featuring Graham Coxon guitar(ex Blur and Babyshambles). Arcady, the first track,is rather a sweet poetic ditty, pretty cool amd nicely sung by Pete.”In Arcady life trips along -pure and simple as the shepherds’ song.”Acoustic guitar accompaniment to his voice blends nicely.
Last Of The English Roses is the single.A laid back song, its a good commercial choice for a single release, and us rumoured to have been written about Kate Moss. Some stylish French vocals by Pete towards the end of the song give it a classy tone.
1939 Returning is a winsome track, with Doherty’s fractured voice lamenting….half on the edge of tragedy, he sings “kids knee-deep in rubble,London urchins knee-deep in dust”. A moving song, probably the best on the album, with mature lyrics.
A Little Death is rather heavy going ,like listening to someone wading through treacle.(Pete Doherty used to sit in graveyards and write lyrics.)This is the song noir of the album.
Salome – wow.Another hard listen and somewhat pretentious.
Quite liked I Am The Rain. Its sensitive and wordy,a pleasant song to hear.”Up in the sky with demand to supply….I am the rain”. This one has a nice ending with a chorus of “oo-ahs”and upbeat guitar.
Sweet By And By has a jazzy piano beginning, quite an upbeat song, with patchy trumpet backing up Pete’s voice.
This album comprises gentle songs; Doherty’s voice has been damaged by drug use,but these tracks are poignant and meaningful.
A nice album to dream to.
Pete Doherty – Last Of The English Roses
Pete Doherty is set to release his debut solo album and this is the first cut from the record. This track was so bad that it made me go and listen to the album because surely this record could not be as bad as this song. “Last Of The English Roses” is a strange choice for a single because practically any other song on the album would of worked better. It is just a long ramble that seems to just go on and on. Once, there was so much potential and now it has come down to this lowly track.
