These New Puritans – Elvis
I remember first hear These New Puritans and thinking this was band got the perfect mix of noise and pop. “Elvis” is being released in the run up to the bands debut album “Beat Pyramid.” “Elvis” is the perfect song to represent that balance. The song goes from chaotic drums and baggy guitars to a (synthesizers and a bass that just add to the confusion. But, the band manage to make all these sound good. The hook is not in your face but very catchy and that keyboard just entrances you. At times musically, it does have a bit of The Fall to it with its use of noise to make such a noise backdrop. The vocals are nowhere near Mark E. Smith and much more contemporary but the band do provide a very refreshing post-punk track which, is something people try a lot but fail.
